Dr. Alexis Elmore’s Philosophy and Approach

Years ago, I discovered an abiding passion for guiding others through change.

My approach focuses on delving into your lived experience to understand your patterns— your perspective, your emotions, both felt and expressed, and your behaviors. I place an emphasis on learning and context— on understanding how what is happening in your head, heart, and body can influence how you respond to the circumstances of the present moment— making room to understand the intersection of past and present in a way that can shape your journey toward what you hope the future might hold for you.

I find that framing change from a perspective of learning helps to remove the stigma and self-judgment that often come along with the struggles we encounter as humans moving through life. Perhaps most importantly, I find that this perspective helps us conceptualize struggle as an opportunity for insight, growth, and the realization of self-compassion— seeing yourself as you are and can be, rather than the absence of who you (or others) think you "should be."

My style is both integrative and collaborative, with an emphasis on tailoring evidence-based approaches to meet your needs and preferences. The work of psychotherapy can be very challenging and rewarding. I value your insight into your own experience and will work with you to fuse that knowledge with functional tools to help you create the changes you want to see.

If my approach sounds like a good fit for you, I would love to hear from you.
